Take a Look at What We Have in Store

New Hamburg is a pageant of a wide variety of tree species, and some of them are spectacular! A brief walk along three downtown streets will take you past 7 varieties of maple, 3 varieties of spruce, 2 of oak, 2 of willow, 2 of birch and many more. Come on a one-hour walk to see how many you already know.

Meet in the Kirkpatrick parking lot at 122 Wilmot Street by the gazebo (near the New Hamburg Dam).

We won’t go if it’s raining.

FOREST TOURS, PARADES & MORE!

Sept 23rdWalk and Learn with Us about New Hamburg’s Town Trees

Each year, LTW celebrates our accomplishments and honours our volunteers. Mark your calendar for Monday, November 13th, 7:00 pm at WRC.

PAST SEASONS

Tree Planting:
April 22nd: Assisted Wilmot Township with the Tree Give Away of 340 trees
Final planting of 200 trees at the Wilmot Recreation C. triangle (Schmidt Woods) for a total of 760 trees planted in 2 years.
May 7th: At Scott Park and Catherine St Park, NH, planted a total of 130 trees including mulch.
May 13th:  At Baden Sandhills planted 230 trees.

Seedling Bed:
Planted 960 seedlings in April, and extended the drip irrigation system to this new section. Last year we planted 600 seedlings.

Tree watering:
The Township has been watering newly planted trees and now LTW has a pickup truck with tank and pump to assist in watering any trees which the township is unable to do.

Planning:
Getting ready for the fall season with tree order strategy as we still struggle to get the tree species we want.  Tentative Fall Planting Dates are September 30th, October 14th and 28th.

Funds for tree planting are thanks to the 2 Billion Tree Grant, Natural Resources Canada, Township of Wilmot: a corporate sponsor and dedicated private donors.

And finally, thank you so much to all of our wonderful volunteers! We couldn’t have accomplished this much without you!
