As seen in The Wilmot-Tavistock Gazette.
Let’s Tree Wilmot organized two tree planting events on Saturday, May 28. About 23 volunteers attended in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 29 attended in the afternoon. The group planted 435 native trees. According to Marlene Knezevich, Forester’s Financial had volunteers come in the afternoon and provided a grant to cover the cost of some of the trees and coco mats used as mulch. Tree species planted included Kentucky Coffeetree, Silver and red maple, white pine, white spruce, Norway spruce (only non-native), tamarack, larch, pin cherry, chokecherry, black cherry, tulip cedar, black walnut, and pawpaw. Knezevich said the group wanted more species of trees but they were not available as there was a shortage of trees.
